Dialogues no. 7 Hektor Lancelot
Speaker 1 (Yves): I'm. Yves I'm the host at Hektor, which is an artist residency in.
Speaker 2 (Bert): My name is Bert, and here at Hektor I am the farmer and the cook.
Speaker 1- We have seen many places, on different locations, all with its own character, because that was the essential thing. We were looking for a house that had something. Something that spoke to us. Could be the place, could be the location, could be the size. But it had to be something that surprises. we, I think we've seen 15 to 20, maybe even 30 places, and this one was on the top of the list.
Speaker 2- What we want to do with this house is that we have common spaces, but there are also private areas for people. So we have a lot of spaces. There are three or four spaces and each suite has two or 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom around a patio, but also around the area behind with the garden and the pool. And we want that when you are here or when you stay here, you have Space to think, to relax, to discover the terrain and nature. But also that there are possibilities available, to find or find other people as well.
Speaker 1- Structure wise, the house was already fine, to be honest. It had a nice structure. The rooms were divided, kind of f as we wanted it to be. so that was a big advantage to find this place because we already had the spaces and also we gave ourselves the challenge to work with what we had. So, we didn't make it bigger. We actually made it smaller. The house and we want it to work. We have this as a base and this is what we were going to work with, which was a challenge, but we worked it out fine and we had a nice architect to work with and, we had ideas ourselves, but we gave ourselves a challenge. Okay, this is the base, this is the house and make it work. That was the biggest challenge.
Speaker 2- And it was very important that we have lived. We have lived here ourselves before we started planning and all this. So we have lived here for almost ten months and we have made the plan after four or five months, because this way I can really discover everything about the house where Luz goes, how she works with the wind, with the light from outside and everything. this. So we have made the plan with the technical architect who after eight months with him we have sought the contract for the renovation of the house,
Speaker 1- Bert and I have the same taste and colors and in material sometimes we never have an argument. It's always this is the direction we want to go. It's very eclectic. we have stuff collected in the past 15 years arts, graphic design, interior design.
Speaker 2 - We mix nature, the farm, agriculture or the arts in a project. So you can come to discover designs or works of art, but also to let yourself be immersed in nature, because we are in the valleys, a fairly small town in the nature of the island, and we want to make this mix of experiences.
Speaker 1 - Arriving here and coming here. I think it's a privilege to be in such a beautiful spot and to be able to live here and to I. Yeah. When you compare it to many different places in the world, this feels way more home than I ever had another place feeling like home. I see it as a privilege to be able to live in such a beautiful place. Everything is possible, but It's not necessary.
